Harmonium
Harmonic Filterbank Synthesizer
Harmonium is a SuperCollider based synthesizer built around the concept of a harmonic filterbank. It is designed to take complex sounds such as field recordings, white noise, samples, or external inputs and filter them into pitched material. The instrument creates tone by subtracting everything except the harmonic series, allowing the timbre to evolve naturally from the complex spectrum of the source. The modulation of the timbre is shaped directly by the material you feed into it
Harmonium also includes several custom processes for working with this spectrum, including per-partial amplitude and panning control, LFO patterns, spectral displacement, FM and ring modulation options, pulsing or swirling harmonic motion, and multiple feedback configurations.
Harmonium is not a commercial product. It is a tool I developed for my own compositional practice, and I am making it publicly available with the understanding that it may require some troubleshooting to set up.
